About the AVL

Happy New Year!  Welcome my blog and some awesome opportunities for readers to win and writing professionals to get the word out about their work.  Today, in my area of Nebraska, its 17 below zero outside.  I have no idea what the wind chill is because I'm ignoring that!  I have no plans to go anywhere past the shed, which is only 20 yards away, to get a sheet of plywood for my bathroom project.  Yesterday the pipes at my daughters house froze-she did get them thawed and we walked to the local bar for a New Years beverage then home for a movie because it was just too cold to venture farther.

In the spirit of not leaving the house, I share Alabama and a virtual library-a wealth of information and no one has to leave the house on days like today.

Like I said before, there's new opportunities this year and one of those is the Monthly Grand Prize for people who comment.  AND-Leave a comment on each post each week for your chance to win not only that grand prize but a prize from each blog participant. At the end of each month, we'll pick the winners and let them know what they've won so leave a form of contact. Readers can also send their contact info via the Contact Me tab at the top of this blog--we'll need to find the winners if they win!

Good Luck and Enjoy this Alabama Treasure:

  1. Neat that Alabama is the first state beginning this year - looks like the site must take states alphabetically. It's very cold now where I am in the Nashville area of Tennessee, so I imagine it is also in Alabama. No, we don't get minus 17 degrees in the South, but 16 plus degrees feels pretty cold for us southern based folks. I did not know about the Alabama Library benefit or the 200 year celebration until I read this. Neat.

  2. My boys were just in Nashville last year for a bowl game...they ate chicken at a food truck..I'm checking if someone remembers the name of it...but they said it was the best chicken they ever had.

  3. It's cold in Virginia but not too windy. Nothing but ice will keep me from my daily walk! Thanks for the information on Alabama. It's one of about 15 states I haven't visited. Nebraska's another. Stay warm and Happy 2018!

  6. Hello fellow Southern state and Happy 200th Birthday, Alabama. Mississippi also just celebrated its 200th Birthday!
yes, it is very cold all over the nation, down south too, but not as cold as down south in Mississippi or Alabama as it is in chilly Nebraska. We're quite fortunate to have temps down in Mississippi above 0 while up North doesn't. We remember the cold winters up North so well, which is why we now live down South. Stay warm. Thanks for sharing such useful information.
